This is funny because some of you looking at this site probably didn't even know that I was pregnant! Surprise!
Mia is truly a blessing and it took a lot of work to get her here. I was really fortunate that the technology is available now that I was able to get her here and get her here healthy. With the support of family, work and all the great doctors and nurses we have have an amazing little girl. When I found out I was pregnant back in May I had to immediately go to Maternal Fetal Medicine at Evergreen Hospital. Because of my age and past pregnancy losses we knew that I would have to have surgery to keep the baby in for nine months. It was about seven or eight months of many doctor visits, ultrasounds and a ton of effort to grow her. On December 7th I had my stitches removed and for several days after that I was 3 centimeters dialated. We went to the hospital a several times over the next few days thinking I was in labor, but I wasn't where I needed to be to check in to the hospital. On the morning of the 14th I had a doctor appointment and she said she could check us in to the hospital and we could have a baby that day. In shock, we said ok. We checked in to the hospital at noon, at 5:30 my doctor stopped by to check on me and then she went to a Holiday Party thinking it was going to be a while since there had been no change all day. She had to turn around at about 6:15 because I went from 4 to 10 centimeters that fast. Steve told me afterwards that the nurse told him not to tell me but the baby was coming out. Thanks to a powerful epideral, I didn't know. Mia (Isabella named her) was born on December 14th at 7:21pm. She was a healthy little girl, weighing in at 5 pounds 12 ounces and she was 18.5 inches when she was born. Although tiny and only in the 10th perecntile, by her four week doctor appointment she was in the 50th percentile. We just love her so much and wanted to share this with the people we care about.
